SWN, Lead in Partnership with SRI (Sustainable and Resilient Ideas Pvt. Ltd.) is assigned by NREP for study of 223 Micro Hydro Plant (MHP) for their functionality in total of 15 districts of Province 5 and Karnali Province. The objective of the study is to find out the functional status, grid interconnection possibility and connection of additional household through system improvement of MHP.

  • Provide Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (VCA) Training
  • Carried out VCA in the community
  • Disaster Mapping using Google Earth and GIS
  • Facilitate Planning Workshop
  • Develop Planning Document and submission

Key Activities

The functionality study shall cover those MHPs larger than 10 kW in the project areas. The study conducts technical, financial, environmental, socio- economic and institutional assessments of the listed Microhyrdro Power Plants. Key activities are:

  • Observation and data collection from available facilities for system design and analysis
  • Plant run tests for accessing various technical parameters
  • Study on operating features of end users
  • Route survey for modelling and design of grid connection potential
  • Study of existing NEA facilities Meetings and discussion with MPH functional groups
  • Collection of data from manufacturers.
